The CMAP Human Resources Department provides full Human Resources support to the Agency and its employees. The Generalist will work in all areas of Human Resources performing the full range of Human Resources activities, including recruitment, onboarding and integration, benefits, communications, compensation, diversity & inclusion, employee relations, HRIS, performance management, policies & procedures, legal compliance, training, and be the point of contact for employee questions.
• Coordinate the talent acquisition process for employees and interns;
• lead new hire onboarding and orientation;
• Benefit administration for medical, dental, vision, short and long-term disability plans, life insurance; leaves of absence including FMLA; 457 retirement savings plan, IMRF and SERS pension plans;
• Administer the pay and paid time practices;
• Monitor and support compliance with all local, state and federal legal and regulatory requirements;
• HRIS electronic and paper record keeping;
• verifications;
• Participate in the development, communication and administration of Human Resources policies, procedures and programs;
• Participate in the performance management process; employee communication and feedback; the Mentor Program; and
• Provide Human Resources administration and support to HR initiatives in areas including performance management, a compensation study, training initiatives, and HRIS upgrade
• BA/BS in Business with an emphasis in Human Resources, or directly related field from an accredited institution
• PHR or CP Certification preferred
• 3 – 5 years’ progressive experience in Human Resources to include: • Recruitment, onboarding, AAP, EEO, benefits, compensation, employee relations, • In-depth working knowledge of relevant local, state, and federal regulations for HR compliance, • Administration of benefit, compensation, paid time and leave of absence programs • Familiarity with best practices in talent acquisition, onboarding, communications, diversity & inclusion, employee relations, training
• Demonstrated successful professional interpersonal skills, including verbal and written communications, the ability to interact effectively with people at all organizational levels, coaching skills, and the organizational skills needed to effectively manage time, prioritize, and handle multiple priorities/deadlines
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and HRIS, including reporting
