The Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago is looking for contemporary dancers who are couples or enjoy working together to interpret Tino Sehgal’s Kiss (2002) as part of the exhibition I Am You. The piece consists of a couple dancing through some of Art History’s most famous kisses. The movement technique is slow and based on the breath. Experience in contact improvisation is beneficial. Those interested should come to the audition as a pair. Couples will be expected to kiss at the audition.

Tino Sehgal is an internationally acclaimed artist. He represented Germany at the Venice Biennale in 2005. His works have been shown at the Kunsthaus Zürich, the Tate in London, the Guggenheim Museum in New York, and the Palais de Tokyo in Paris to name a few. Tino Sehgal’s artworks do not consist in material objects, but are rather built on interactions between people involving speaking, dancing or singing.

Dates: the piece will be shown from October 20 – November 25, 2017.

Time and Compensation: participants should be available 3-4 times a week, for 3 or 3.25 hour shifts. Each performance is 2hours and 20 minutes or 2hours and 45minutes long. Dancers will be paid a fix rate per shift – $70 (3 hours) or $76 (3 hours 15 minutes).

Audition Information: Saturday, August 5, 3:00-5:00 PM.

Rehearsals will be held from Monday August 7 to Tuesday August 11 at the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago. Each couple must be available for up to 8 hours of rehearsal that week, and rehearsal will be paid at a rate of $23/hour.
